Minor age participants must have a parent or legal guardian set up this Volunteer Action Central webpage on their behalf. Release and Waiver of Liability PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, THIS IS A LEGAL DOCUMENT Release and Waiver of Liability: This Release and Waiver of Liability (“Release”) executed YOU(the ”Volunteer”), and in effect for one full year from this date, in favor of HALF THE SKY FOUNDATION, a nonprofit corporation incorporated and existing under the laws of the State of California, US, its directors, officers, employees, and agents (collectively, “Half the Sky”). I desire to participate in a volunteer activity for Half the Sky Foundation and I recognize my participation has inherent risk of injury and I hereby assume that risk, on behalf of me and any minors in my care. If I or a minor in my care causes injury to any person or damage to any property while participating in a volunteer activity, I hereby indemnify and hold harmless Half the Sky from and against any and all claims, suits, actions, loses, damages and expenses related to or arising from such injury or damage. I hereby freely and voluntarily, without duress, execute this Release under the following terms: 1. Waiver and Release: I release and forever hold harmless Half the Sky and its successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from my volunteer work for Half the Sky. I understand and acknowledge that this Release discharges Half the Sky from any liability or claim that I may have against Half the Sky with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from my participation with Half the Sky. I also understand that Half the Sky does not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide financial assistance or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability insurance, in the event of injury, death or property damage. 2. Insurance: I understand that Half the Sky does not carry or maintain health, medical or disability insurance for any volunteer. 3. Medical Treatment: I hereby release and forever discharge Half the Sky from any claim whatsoever that arises or may hereafter arise on account of any first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in connections with an emergency during my volunteer time with Half the Sky. 4. Assumption of Risk: I understand that my time with Half the Sky may include activities that may expose me to a variety of risks and understand that it is my sole responsibility to ensure that my physical condition is suitable for the risks that I may encounter. I further understand that said risks may include, but are not limited to physical activities, operating equipment and tools, transportation to and from and event site, terrorism, war, insurrection or criminal activities. I hereby expressly and specifically assume the risk of injury or harm in these activities and release Half the Sky from all liability for injury, illness, death or property damage resulting from activities during my time with Half the Sky. 5. Personal Release: I hereby give Half the Sky Foundation, its successors and assigns, my unrestricted permission to use and distribute all still photographs, motion picture film, video recordings and sound recordings taken of me during the period while I'm serving as a volunteer for Half the Sky. 6. Other: I EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT THIS Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of California in the United States of America, and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California. I agree that in the event that any clause or provision of this Release shall be held to be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such clause or provision shall not otherwise affect the remaining provisions of the Release, which shall continue to be enforceable.
